Sambo Matsogi 3 STEP SPARRING

All set sparring is designed for the student to learn Focus, Distance and timing with the difficulty of the routines increasing as the student progresses.

3 Step is pre-arranged sparring designed for the student to learn the basic blocks, kicks, punches, strikes, stances and footwork of Tae Kwon-Do. It can also be used as a forearm conditioning exercise.

Attacker: The attack in 3 step sparring is the same throughout all of the various numbers. From a parallel ready stance the attacker will take their right leg back into a walking stance and make a low section outer forearm block with the left arm. At this moment they will make a kiap to show that they are ready to attack.

Defender: The defender starts from a parallel ready stance of each occasion, and once the attacker has kiaped the defender kiaps to show they are ready to defend. The defender also kiaps on their counter attack at the end of each exercise.
