Ibo Matsogi  2 STEP SPARRING

All set sparring is designed for the student to learn Focus, Distance and timing with the difficulty of the routines increasing as the student progresses.

 

2 Step is pre-arranged sparring designed for the more experienced student.

 

Attacker: From a parallel ready stance the attacker will take their right leg back into a L-Stance with a forearm guarding block, and kiap to show they are ready to attack.

 

Defender: On each occasion the defender starts from a parallel ready stance. Once the attacker has kiaped the defender kiaps to show they are ready to defend. The defender also kiaps on their counter attack at the end of each exercise.

 

1.

Attack: Step forward in a walking stance with a high section obverse punch, then execute a low section front snap kick (Left leg) landing in L-stance with a forearm guarding block.

Defence: Step back on the right leg into a walking stance with a left forearm rising block, then step back again in a walking stance and execute an X-Fist pressing block followed by a high section twin vertical punch.

Attack: Step into a fixed stance with a right side punch, then execute a middle section turning kick landing in a L-stance with a guarding block.

Defence: Step back on the right into a L-stance with a left upwards palm heel block, then step back again in L-stance with a right waist block. Counter attack by reversing the L-stance as you slide into your opponent with a right reinforced elbow strike.

 

3.

Attack: Step forwards with a low section front snap kick, land in L-stance, then step forwards in a walking stance while executing a twin vertical punch.

Defence: Step back on the right into a walking stance with an X-fist pressing block. Step again into walking stance with a wedging block. Counter attack by grabbing your opponent around the back of the head and execute a knee kick to the solar plexus with the left knee, then pull back into L-stance with a guarding block.

 

4.

Attack: Step forwards into a walking stance with a flat fingertip thrust, then move forward as you execute a left side piercing kick landing in a sitting stance.

Defence: Step back on the right into a walking stance with a left knife-hand rising block, then step back into a 45degree sitting stance with a right inwards moving palm heel block. Counter attack with a left leg front snap kick to the opponents coccyx and land in a walking stance with a twin upset punch to the kidney area.

5.

Attack: Right leg back kick then step forward with the left leg into a walking stance executing a high section obverse palm heel strike.

Defence: Step back into a right L-stance executing a palm waist block, then take the left leg back into a left L-stance executing an inwards outer forearm block. Counter by forming a right walking stance while executing a middle left reverse knife-hand strike (Slipping the front foot).

 

6.

Attack: Right high section turning kick, then step forward into a left walking stance executing a arc-hand strike to the throat.

Defence: From parallel ready stance move the left out diagonally into a sitting stance executing a twin straight forearm block. Then take the right leg back into a right L-stance executing a hooking block (Grabbing the arm) then counter with a left side kick maintaining the grab.

 

7.

Attack: Right fixed stance with a side fist strike, then left middle section reverse turning kick.

Defence: Step back on the left into left L-stance executing a twin forearm block, then take the right leg back into right L-stance executing a middle section knife-hand guarding block (Sliding away using the block as a guard only) Counter with a right high section revere turning kick.

 

8.

Attack: Right leg middle section side kick followed by a spinning high section knife-hand strike into right L-stance (Turning anti-clockwise)

Defence: Step back on the right, right L-stance executing a inward inner forearm waist block, step left foot to right, step back into right L-stance knife-hand guarding block. Counter Step into a left X stance with a high section back fist side strike to the temple or back of neck.
